Copy of disk or copy of files and folders

Thread needs solution

Hello.
I have a doubt. I want to make a backup of the C SSD unit.
Is it better to make the disk copy or of files and folders? If the C unit crashes and I put another SSD disk different I think that the copy can not be restored if it has been made as a disk copy, but it has been done as a copy of files and folders if possible.
Is this correct?
Thanks

Vicente, if you want your C: SSD drive to be bootable and load into Windows correctly, then you need to create a Disk & Partitions type backup to achieve this.  There are many System / Windows OS files and folders that cannot be captured in a Files & Folders backup that are essential for the correct boot of the drive into Windows.

Ok. You're right, it's better to do that, but I have my operating system on a Kingston SSD. If I change it for a disc from another manufacturer, Samsung for example, can I restore the copy to this new disc?
That's my doubt.

Yes, you should be able to restore a disk & partitions backup from your Kingston SSD to a SSD made by a different company such as Samsung.  This assumes that no additional device drivers are needed to support the new SSD, which is normally the case with plug & play type devices.

The would be additional considerations if the new SSD connects via a different interface to your current SSD, i.e. migrating from a SATA SSD to a PCIe or M.2 NVMe drive.
