Create a backup which erase the previous one

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I want to do frequent images of my main ssd. At the moment, I configured weekly backup with one complete backup and 3 incremental versions before the program make a new complete backup, etc.

My problem is that I thought that, as I configured ATI2016, I thought that i'll get one complete backup file, and eventually one incremental backup file, updated 3 times before the renewal of the previous complete backup file... which would be erased.

But I was surprise to see that in two months, I have now 2 complete backup files and 6 incremental files !

Does ATI2016 can be configured to overwrite, at least, the previous complete backup file ? And eventually all the previous incremental backups files ?

Thanks in advance for your help

A picture of your backup scheme could help.  After we see that, we can offer some suggestions.

This link provides a lot of informtion.

If you installed 2016 overtop  of a prior version, you may need to run the 2015 cleanup utility.

If the task which is not working correcty was created by the prior version,

I would start over with a new task.

Here's a picture of the configuration and of what happens in the folder.

For the sandisk, You have reached your designated quota of 1 full plus 3 incrementals.

YOur next backup will be a FULL BACKUP and a successful completion of the _Full_b2 will initiate the deletiion process and

these 4 B1  backups will be deleted leaving you with the Full B2 only.  3 Future incrementals will be added, and the deletion cycle will repeat with each new Full backup.

Basically, from this point forward, each new Full will initate the deletion process of the oldest chains

Oh ! I just saw that the other files were, in fact, another backup I deleted ! That's why there were so many files.

Sorry for the inconvenience. You're totally right.

Thank you
