Creating Universal Boot image fail: "Cannot load the required components. Please reinstall Acronis Bootable Media Builder"

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I'm trying to create a Universal Boot disk to do dissimilar hardware backup restoration (see this thread for context: https://forum.acronis.com/forum/109389). But I keep getting the following error from Acronis:

Cannot load the required components. Please reinstall Acronis Bootable Media Builder

Event code KB: https://kb.acronis.com/content/49112
Event code: 0x0018000B+0x0018000B

I tried reinstalling Acronis Bootable Media Builder but that didn't help. And looking at that KB article, it's about Acronis True Image 2015 (and earlier), which it says was fixed...

I'm re-downloading Acronis True Image Bootable Media Builder, but I don't think my install file is the problem.

The OS I'm using is Windows 7 SP1 Professional, downgraded from Windows 10.

I have searched Google, the KB area of Acronis website, and this forum, but haven't found a solution.

Thanks

In order to use Universal Restore you must have installed the following components, all at the same build level:

Acronis True Image 2016  (AcronisTrueImage2016_6027.exe)
Acronis True Image 2016 Add ons  (AcronisTrueImage2016_6027addons.exe)
Acronis True Image 2016 Universal Restore   (AcronisTrueImage2016_6027ur_en-US.msi)

You will also need the Windows ADK for WinPE if choosing to build that restore media but this raises an issue (for me at least) in that the standard Acronis Bootable Rescue Media Builder for build 6027 recognises and uses the Windows 10 ADK in order to successfully build WinPE rescue media, but the Universal Restore media builder refuses to recognise the same Windows 10 ADK and wants to have any of the earlier Windows ADK versions downloaded and installed.

I am able to create standard Linux Universal Restore media but cannot get the Universal Restore media builder to let me choose the option to select my folder holding the Windows 10 ADK (or any other options on the initial page once I have selected that I want to build WinPE media with Universal Restore).

Basically, Universal Restore is still broken with regard to using the Windows 10 ADK, as was the standard Bootable Rescue Media Builder prior to build 6027.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for all the info.

After  a little testing I found I could create a boot disk when using only Universal Boot, but got those error codes when I tried to include Acronis True Image into the boot disk.

Hmmm...

It looks like I have build 5029 for Acronis True Image 2016 (it was installed with a new custom computer I purchased). And it's also telling me it's up-to-date. I think I've read where more recent builds can be found, maybe in the user area?

And when I download Acronis True Image Universal Restore 2016, from within Acronis True Image 'Tools' area, I get the following file name (I cannot find its build number in the properites dialog for the file): AcronisTrueImage2016_ur_en-US.msi

I cannot however seem to find how to download Acronis True Image Media Add Ons. I don't see the option listed in within Acronis. And I didn't find a download area for the add-on on the Acronis website. I read this may be on my installation disk, I'll check and see. Otherwise, if you can give me a hint about how to download the add-on that would be much appreciated.

Thanks again for you efforts.

I was able to download all the latest add-ons, universal restore and program builds by signing in on the Acronis web site https://account.acronis.com/login where it shows me a list of my registered products, and for each of these, it gives me a link to Downloads available for that product.

For Acronis True Image 2016 I see a pop-up as attached below showing me the latest versions of all the needed program components.

If you don't see this in your own 'My Account' then check to ensure that you have registered your ATI 2016 to your account then check to see what you are shown when you click on the Person icon within the program on your computer - you should be shown what email address it is registered to and the status of activation etc.  See my second image attachment.
