[CRITICAL BUG] Planned job does not run when "start backup when computer is idle" is checked
ATIH 2016 b5518
In reference to an earlier post I would like to point out that there is a problem with the Acronis Schedule Manager that will not run any scheduled task if the flag "start backup when computer is idle" is checked.
In addition the job will not start any time later.
Contradictionary the job will be executed as soon I launch the ATIH 2016 application (UI), regardless whether the computer is busy or not.
This needs a fix. User will not get informed about this circumstances by email notification / UI notification (if configured).
Imho it would be great that ATIH 2016 will push out an email stating why (eventually stating which active task) prevented the backup job to start at the planned time.
I am pretty sure that this machine IS idle at the set time (5 am CET)
The user GroverH pointed out that this problem occours for other users, too. Please investigate the issue. Quite probably the problem is that a Windows OS is never fully idle, carrying out own servicing tasks via the Windows Task planner itself when a computer is idle. It might be a good idea to get rid of the own Acronis Task Scheduler and use the Windows Task planner instead.

Hello, Karl!
Can you clarify the following:
- Do you have the machine configured to sleep automatically?
- Do you have the machine configured to lock automatically / display a screensaver?
- Do yo do any of the aforementioned manually?

Hello Dmitry, thanks for picking up this old report.
The machine had standard windows energy (balanced) and lockscreen settings for a desktop PC running Windows 10.
Should I try if the backup would run with this setting (start backup when computer idle) enabled on ATIH 2016 b6023?

Karl, it looks like there is an issue if the computer is in sleep mode at the time of the scheduled backup. If the "Run the backup only when the computer is idle" option is enabled, then True Image wakes up the PC from sleep, but does not run the scheduled backup. Not sure if this is your case as well? In any case I have reported this issue to the developers.

Ah ok. I thought it would wake the computer up and run the backup based on the schedule, and carry it out if the planned time has passed. Same as ATIH would run a job if the computer was off and you startup windows, ATIH would run the job. Is this assumption wrong?

It is supposed to be this way, but apparently there's a bug somewhere. The developer are now aware of this bug and hopefully it will get fixed in one of the updates.

Thank you very much, I am looking forward to it.
