Custom sequence

Thread needs solution

I have windows 10 and acronis 2016 with a custom backup. The system is 2 * 2TB disks, one for operation and the other soley for backups. This is 6 differential backups followed by a full backup after each 6 diffs. How/can I set Acronis to remove all but the last 2 full backups as I will run out of disk after 3 full plus the diff backups?

Jonathan,

In the link below, GroverH explains how to setup ATI to do exactly what you want to do.

Jonathan,

At the referred link, use the GH-13 example as your example except set it for 6 differentials and "store no more than 2 recent version chains."

What  your backup scheme will do is to create 2 chains of 7 files each each (Full +6 diff) or   (14 backups),

and then AFTER the next FULL, which is backup #15, the progam will automatically delete the oldest chain 1 (7 files)

leaving you with 7 files of chain 2 plus the full only of Chain 3 (8 backups total)

As time passes the next 6 differentials willl accrue.

The next full will occur and the auto deletion will again occur.

So after the 3rd full, each future new full will trigger the auto deletion.

So with a "store no more than 2 recent version chains setting, you need to plan space for 3 fulls plus 12 differentials,

and you will never have less than the 2 fulls plus 6 diffs. (8 backups).

If you do not have enough space for the 15 backups as illustated here your choice is to reduce the number of chains which is reduce the store number from 2  to 1 so you never have more than 2 full plus 6 differentials  total.

Do take the time to read all of https://forum.acronis.com/forum/100416

as it covers many items of interest.

Thank you MVP FtrPilot for the recommendation.
