Data corrupt? Universal media builder crash

Thread needs solution

True image home said when i was backing up file is corrupted please choose another location..

What does this actually mean? the external USB HDD i am using to save the backup on has a fault somehow? or the source file itself? or what? How to solve? (currently badsector checking my external USB HDD, planning to do source HDD next.)

This is my highest priority, so i can atleast run the backup in the meantime. After that Solve the problem below...:

When I run Universal bootable media builder it says:
This type of media can contain only one component. Select other media type or use larger media.
I am using a 60 gb usb drive... and in the 2015 version i had no issues creating 2015 True image/Universal restore combo. So what is the problem here..?

Also any attempt to create an iso or writing to usb via the wizard results in: Universal Boot has stopped working.
Via Acronis True image on my desktop I can run Rescue media builder and that works fine though... but no universal restore.. How to solve ?

This is the crash error: (btw upgraded from 2015 to 2016.) tried to delete 2015 first. but got bluescreen inaccessible boot device, and windows restored the previous settings, meaning 2015 was restored, for some reason it seemed to affect my boot.

Based of just the information you provided, we have no way of determining if your backup destination drive is bad or not.  I would definitely run chkdsk first.  Then follow-up with a second opinion from a third party hard drive tester like Seagate Seatools.  I would also check your Windows System logs to see if you can find any warnings or alerts about the disk.

The fact that your system BSOD upon trying to remove Acronis 2015 before upgrading, does not instill confidence in your drive or your OS.  I would recommend uninstalling 2016 from the control pane, running the older 2015 cleanup tool after that, rebooting and then attempting to install 2016 and the laterst version of Universal Restore After that and see how it goes.  If you get more BSOD's you probably have bigger troubles.

A few questions...

Are your issues all related to one drive or is problem 1 on one drive and problem 2 about not being able to create bootable media issues on another drive?  If it is all on one drive, I imagine that Acronis will not let you use your bootable media drive as a storage drive for images - not sure though, as I haven't tested, but that would make sense.

Is your 60GB USB drive, a "removable" flash drive, or a "fixed" external USB disk?  Acronis bootable media can only be written to disks of the "removable" type (and some flash drives are set by the manufactuer to be "fixed" disks).  As a result, most portable/USB external hard drives aren't detected by Acronis as an acceptable medium for creating offline bootable recovery media.

If your bootable media drive is separate and has nothing important on it - use DISKPART to "Clean" the drive.  Then initialize it in Windows and quickformat it as FAT32 since that's the only partition type that Acronis will write offine bootable recovery media too.  You should have no problem creating bootable media with Universal Restore and Acronis using Acronis embedded recovery media builder.
