Did not uninstall ATI2013 before installing ATI2016 - did not know I had to and what to do now?

Thread needs solution

Based on an Acronis FAQ I just read, ATI2013 should have been removed before installing ATI2016. Does this apply to the most recent build 5518? Will installing over ATI2013 be a problem later on and what should be done now to prevent such problems if any? I do not remember ATI2016 issuing a warning to uninstall ATI2013 before proceeding with the install.

ATI 2016 will remove ATI 2015 (and possibly ATI 2014) when it installs. I have had no issue in loading ATI 2016 on systems running ATI 2015.

The installer for 2016 may not search for 2013 or earlier, and not uninstall it. Having both 2013 and 2016 installed is a disaster waiting to happen. The installation may partially overwrite the prior version, leaving a mishmash of files.

If you have a recent disk image of your system partition I would restore it using the ATI 2013 recovery disk. (I usually do a disk image before doing anything radical like installing a new generation of ATI.) The uninstall ATI 2013 and then after rebooting the computer install ATI 2016 after running the installation clean-up utility.
