Disappearance of settings
Hello,
If I set a daily backup, everything works quite well so far. Only the setting "Validate backup, monthly, every first Thursday of" disappears after each backup AND after each restart of Windows AND after each restart of True Image. Why this setting is not saved correctly?
Thanks in advance and greetings from Austria

Hi Steve,
Thank you for your post.
Yes, I use the build 6559.
This problem exists since I use the programm. I bought it about a week ago.

By the way: The setting "make a full backup after 6 diffential backups" changes to "after the first full backup make only diffential backups" by itself. Sorry, I don't know the exact english text of this options. :)
best regards

Steve Smith wrote:Note: One thing that I have found on my own system which may be in play here, is that when I have set validation ATIH creates a separate Validation task script in the C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Scripts folder to peform that activity. I wonder if that is happening for you and the separate task is actually executing? Again the log file viewer should show if that is the case - the validation tasks should show as 'service_' logs the same as normal backup task logs.
Sorry, I can't find this folder. I have the Acronis program folder in "c:\Programme(x86)" but no subfolder called scripts.

It is in the C:\programdata\acronis\trueimage\scripts

Okay, got it. My path is a little bit different: "C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Scripts". Thank you!

@Steve: Based on your information, I made a test setup. This I can report:
- TI creates tasks for validating.
- These tasks are also running.
- The checkbox in the options will disappear anyway. It seems to be a bug.
I'm going to observe this behavior a few days.

That is the correct path as I put in my first response. Check how many scripts you have compared to how many backup tasks you have created in the main GUI - there may be more scripts than GUI tasks.
- Log in to post comments

Yes, I've 2 scripts in the folder and 1 backup task in ATI.
- Log in to post comments

Open each script in a text editor such as Notepad and take a look to see what actions they are set to perform.
The text data is in XML format but is fairly easy to read provided you have word-wrap enabled for the longer lines.

One script is for the backup and the other one is for validation. The script for validation is referenced to the script for backup.
Where I can see the schedule for the scripts?
- Log in to post comments

You can't see the Acronis scheduled tasks directly as these are run with the dedicated Acronis Scheduler2 service, however there is a Scheduler Manager tool that you can download - see KB document https://kb.acronis.com/SchedulerManager which will give you various commands related to the scheduled tasks, including 'get list' to show you a list of scheduled tasks.

Okay. With the SchedulerManager I can see the tasks. Now I will observe the work of TI for the next few days.
I think the problem with the missing check-mark in the user interface is just a little bug, because the programm run the tasks normally.
Steve, thank you very much for your professional and fast help and please excuse my bad english.

You are very welcome, glad to be able to help you. Your English is very good, far better than my German (or any other language!) - we English tend to be lazy in that respect - even more so with the advent of tools like Google Translate!

I've a question to my case: can anybody reproduce the problem with the empty validate-checkbox after restart/reboot/backup?
- Log in to post comments

I have to confess that I do not do regular or scheduled validations mainly because of the extra time they take and that I have never had a problem with a bad archive (yet).
If I need to restore a backup archive, then I will do a validation then plus the restore operation will also validate that the full archive version chain is good too.

Hello All,
Just wanted to confirm that developers are aware of this problem. It has been confirmed as a known issue in the software. Plans are to fix it in the next release of Acronis True Image.
Regards,
Slava

I noticed that same issue today. The checkmark did not disappear on B6027 but does in B6559. If I check the box to perform validation on creation that works as expected.

The issue is fixed in B6569 released today.
