Disk Read Error during Backup

Thread needs solution

Since the newest update is installed i have often error messages (attachment).

If i check the disks with chkdsk, no errors are reported.

If i try the backup again, the task runs correct.

Why this?

Peter, welcome to these user forums.

Please run CHKDSK /F /R /B against your source drive - Acronis numbers drives from 1, not from 0 like Windows, so the message about the bad sector is from your drive 1 (Windows drive 0).

Also note that the error might be in a hidden partition, which wouldn't have a drive letter in Windows. To test this, you can try to create backups for each partition separately. If they complete, you know which partition is OK and which one(s) might have a pb.

When you have determined the faulty partition, run chkdsk X: /R where X: is the drive letter. If the partition is a hidden one, depending one which one it is, you might be able to add a partition letter using Windows disk and partition management console.
