"Drive Not Ready"

Thread needs solution

Suddenly I can not run any of my backups. I get "Drive not ready. Click retry or ignore to run new backup..." (There IS no "ignore") to click.  Clearly the drive IS ready, however, since Acronis is able to open the backup location.

This happens with any prior backup scheme, and any USB HDD, not just one in particular.

Just ran a backup 12 hours ago without a problem, so what's going on?

operaflute, sorry but more information is needed to understand this problem?

Which disk is reported as being not ready?   Is this the Source or Destination disk?

What type of disk is it?  Internal or External?  How connected?

Please use the MVP Log Viewer tool to look at the messages for your backup task log to see if this will show more information to help here?  (Download via the Community Tools link).

I made a couple edits to my original posts but:

1) it doesn't tell me which drive. I assume it is the external HDD to which the backup is being written, but I don't know.

2) I've tried a number of my different saved backups with their associated (different) external USB drives and have the same issue with all of them. Everything worked fine 12 hours ago.

3) I create a new backup fine. (But this means, unfortunately, I had to delete a prior backup, since I only have so much space...)

4) Stand by on the MVP Log Viewer - new temporary backup currently in progress...

 

After making a temporary new backup, it could not find the file to validate. But then, it COULD do the original backup it couldn't do before. Argh.  Anyway, after two days of having my machine grinding away at various backups and validation, here's one of the log files from the initial problem.

Sorry but the log does not provide any further information than already given previously about this problem.  The base64 encoded error data only repeats what is already shown in the log.
