ERROR on Backup: Failed to exclusively access a backup file during consolidation

Thread needs solution

I am getting this error everytime I attempt a backup.

I am using Acrons True Image 2016.

It does not matter where I backup to, I have attempted a network share, removable USB drive and even to a different HDD.

Most recent attempt was creating an image of an external HDD to an internal partition, no love.

I do have a System report available if needed.

Do you have Automatic Cleanup selected in the Backup Task?  If yes disable that and see it the problem goes away.

I did have automatic clean up turned on, turned off and no error.

Now, what to do to fix the automatic clean up?

If you can find that out let me know too!  I think it is a bug in the application.

Same problem. Enchantech's solution worked for me.

I use Acronis products since years. Most of the time they work fine, sometimes there are bugs. Their support is poor, so I am happy I found this solution.

To the best of my knowledge this issue has been fixed in the TI 2017 product.  I have not tested it myself to confirm.
