Error Cloning Disks with USB 3 Type C

Thread needs solution

Recently got a fancy new dual bay docking station that uses USB 3.1 Type C connector. Wanted to clone 2 drives with Acronis but I keep getting the same error:

I launch Acronis from the Windows 10 application software that they have and am able to select both disks that I want to clone. It then asks me to restart, which I do. When it boots up the Acronis interface to clone the drives outside of windows it is unable to access my "removable media" which I'm assuming is my USB C Docking station. If I say "yes" to waiting for the removable media to boot up nothing happens and it just pops the message up again in a minute or two. If I say no, I get a black screen and nothing happens. I'm assuming I'm getting this message because the linux based system that the Acronis interface uses does not support the drivers needed for the USB-C docking station to work.

I've done disk cloning where I haven't had to restart my computer before, It just does it in the Windows system, I was wondering if there was a way to manual force this type of cloning?

I'm cloning two data drives with the docking station, not the drive that I have my OS on, so there's no real reason it shouldn't be able to clone within the Windows 10 app for Acronis.

Any help or advice on this issue?

Because the clone tool only works to clone entire disk drives and most users want to use the feature to clone system drives and, most users connect with some type of externally attach drive the default method, which is not changeable by the way, is to reboot the machine into the linux environment to perform the clone operation.

I think your problem is with the USB 3.1 drivers rather than the connection type, you are more than likely correct in your idea of the Linux environment lacking support for USB 3.1.

I think your best way around this at the present time would be to create WinPE Recovery media and even then you might have to inject the USB 3.1 drivers for it to work.

Hopefully support for USB 3.1 will be sooner rather than later but as slow as 3.0 was to be fully supported I don't think I'll hold my breath for it!

ESeekGo type c cable is the advance data cable to charger fast. It is durable and can work a long time. You can have a try. Hope this helps!
