Error for deleted backup will not go away

Thread needs solution

I have TI 2016, and I had a backup of an old drive that is no longer in my system.  It generated an error when it tried to update the backup.  No surprise there.   So I kept getting the popup warnings about it, so I decided to delete the settings for this backup to prevent it from trying to attempt to backup update, and all seemed good.

Except I still get popup warnings about it constantly, even tho the backup has been deleted.  And it still shows the red warning icon on the TI menu for Backups.

Any way to clear this flag other than uninstalling and reinstalling the software?

Chastity, please try the following:

Create a clean copy of the Acronis Database files:

  1. Stop all Acronis Services and Processes - you can do this via the Windows Task Manager (right-click on the bottom status bar and select Task Manager), then select / end or stop the Acronis items shown.  Next, type Services.msc at the Start > Run prompt and use the Services console to end all Acronis services.
  2. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\ - this may be hidden on some systems, if so, change the Explorer View options to show hidden files & folders.
  3. Rename the Database folder at the above location to Database.OLD
  4. Restart the main Acronis True Image application which will restart all other required services & processes, and in turn will create a new Database folder and files.

Note: that you will lose your backup task history that was stored in the old copy of the database files but this will be repopulated as your backup tasks are run again.

Chastity, please download the Log File Viewer app from the link in my signature below and check for messages in the Service log files that are created by your backup task - you are welcome to post log files to the forum for help in reading these.

Decided to uninstall and reinstall.  Problem solved, in a harsh sort of way.  Would be better if the app was more self-intelligent.

Chastity, thank you for the update / feedback, glad that it is resolved.  You are welcome to submit Feedback to Acronis on your experience with the program and suggestions for improvements.  Feedback can be found in the Help section.
