Error (Ox100005) after Windows 10 conversion

Thread needs solution

I received this error from Acronis True Image 2016 after our computer was converted from Windows 7 to Windows 10:

Failed to initialize the snapshot manager library. (0x10005) $module="ti_demon_vs_6559"LocalComputerWithWindowslmpl::RefreshStartupFlags:k:/6559/fdisk/disk_w.cpp(766) Unknown status. (0x9) code=2), $module= "ti_demon_vs_6559"Fdisk::AddKstatusError: k:/6559/fdisk/ver2/arch/windows/win_errors.cpp(40)  The system cannot find the file specified (0xFFF0) code= 80070002, $module = ""ti_demon_vs_6559" Common::Error::AddWindowsError: k:/6559/common/error.cpp(310)

I am have not had a sucessful backup since we converted to Windows 10 on May 17, 2016. I am NOT a computer expert but am the one who has to fix this. Plain English help please!

Hi Joe, the snapman.sys is a driver and most likely in incompatible one with Windows 10 (possibly from a previous Acronis upgrade somewhere in the past).  At this point, I would recommend that you backup the system "as is" using your offline bootable recovery media - just in case - you can still take a backup this way.

Then, remove 2016 using control panel as you would for other applications.  Then, run the ATIH clean tool .  Dont' worry about checkign for the reg keys - I've never had to manually modify them (it's just recommended to check). Once cleaned, REBOOT to update the registry.  Log back in and download the latest installer of Acronis 2016 from your online account - current version is v6569.  Once downlaoded, right click and "run as administrator" to give the installer the highest privileges.

Once re-installed, hopefully all is well again, but you'll need to recreate your backup script/task.  Your old backups will still be useable for recovery, but just start with a new one (use a unique name too) and hoepfully you'll be chugging along again.
