error - unable to create volume snapshot

Thread needs solution

I upgraded to newer version of Acronis, upon backup I receive the error "unable to create voluem snapshot."

I set the status of Volume Shadow Copy and Microsoft Software Shadow Copy to manual, restarted backup, same error.

Also completely uninstalled program and reinstalled.

Volume snapshot errors can be caused by different issues including Microsoft VSS which Acronis uses under the covers to perform backups of system data, but also if any disk errors are encountered on the drive / partition where the snapshot is being stored in either free space or using the space allocated for System Volume Information (used for System Restore points).

I would recommend running CHKDSK /F initially against the source drive and if this doesn't change the problem, try running with the /R flag to check for any bad sectors.
