External Drives. Time Machine

Thread needs solution

Hi! I want to use Acronis for two external cordless disks (wi-fi).

I have two questions:

1) Is it possible to copy to Acronis Clous data from my 1st external cordless disk? Or does it work only for disks connected to computer directly by cord?

2) Is it possible to copy to Acronis Cloud full Time Machine backup from my 2nd external cordless disk?

Yes and no :)

1) if OS X can see your wireless hard drives in finder, then Acronis should be able to select it as a source and you should be able to back it up to the cloud as the destination.  Performance may vary though as you're not only dealing with a wifi connection which may be slow or have interference, but then you're also backing up to the Cloud which is limited to your ISP upload speed and can be quite slow (upload is usually much slower than download... I have 85Mpbs down but only 5 up - it took almost 2 full weeks to push 500Gb to the Cloud initially).

2) I haven't tried.  If you can select the time machine backup (backups.backupdb) as a file to backup, it "should work" though. You may have to give your user account full access to the backus.backupdb file first though - I believe time machine locks this file down by default.  Try with out making a permission change first and if that doesnt' work, then give your user account read/write access to it and try again.

You may want to concact customer support as a potential customer and ask them this second question directly.  Otherwise, if you have not purchased, you can download a 30 day trial and test it out.  You can also purchase and have 30 days to request a refund if it doesn't do what you're looking for.

Please be aware that recovery to your wireless hard drive may be a problem.  Acronis recovery for Macintosh is only possible with the offline bootable recovery media.  Wireless capability typically is not a feature of the media, but I have not tried on the Macintosh side, - it is not supported in the Linux or Windows version of the recovery media for Windows PC's though.

Hi, thank you for response. I tried trial version. It works good and absolutely fixes my problems. So, I decided to buy full version.

1. It works fibe with my new Seagate Personal Cloud!

2. It is possible to copy Time Machine backup to Acronis!

Thank you again!

Glad to hear it.  Thanks for the feedback.
