Failed to Create Snapshot Volume

Thread needs solution

Hello, I am using Acronis True Image from Western Digital on Windows 10

I received the error "Failed to create SnapShot Volume" while trying to create a back up.

I have tried resetting the Shadow writer service in the services control panel.

I have attached my Hard Drive settings in Capture.JPG.

Please Help

Thanks!

Hi Ken W,

It seems your issue is being caused by Windows VSS services.

I suggest you check the consistency of the VSS writers:

Go to Start menu - search for cmd - right click - Run as administrator.

Execute:

vssadmin list writers

This will show you the current state of all writers.

In case any of them is not functioning correctly, you might workaround the issue by disabling the Volume Shadow Copy Service.

Hope this helps!

Hi Jury,

"vssadmin list writers" shows "no errors" for all writers.

Any other workarounds I could use?

Hello Ken W,

If you have no running databases like SQL or Exchange, you can safely disable VSS service, as described in the following article: https://kb.acronis.com/content/48686

Thank you,
