files of a Backup (Win8>10) can not be restored in new installed Win10

Thread needs solution

Hi,

my Win 8 was upgraded to Win 10, which made severe problems after some months and then crashed. Files backupped with Acronis 2016, then exchange of old HDD and installation of new Win 10, which is now functioning well. Old Win 8 had OneKey recovery which was lost in new Win 10 installation (old backups on external HDD of no use).

Old Acronis Backup files can be seen in win explorer (there are two old and 3 new ones in same directory) but not in acronis 2016 (only the new ones). How to get the fotos out of the old backup without overwriting the new, functioning Win 10?

Welcome to these user forums.

If you can see your ATIH 2016 backup files in Windows Explorer, and assuming that you have all required files that comprise a backup version chain, i.e. a full backup plus all associated incremental or differential files - then you should be able to just double-click on the latest backup file and explore the contents from Windows Explorer.  You can then use normal copy & paste commands to move your photos from the backup.

You can also use the option in ATIH 2016 to 'Add existing backup' which you should find at the bottom of the list of your backup tasks. See screen shot below.
