Full Backup on USB Devices

Thread needs solution

Maybe you can help (sorry for my english):

I want to make a full backup from our server every day.

For each day I have an external USB-HDD.
The first backup after configurtion is working, but when I connect the new one for the next day, ATI message is:
"Last Backup failed. Target not found. Please verify, that target is connected with the computer"  (my translation from the german system  :-)

The USB Device is connected, same message, when I try to start manually. But when I make a change in the options, no matter what, the backup works.
It also works, when I let the device connected and dont change the USB drive, but I want to have a full backup from each day of the week on different devices.
So what can I do ?

regards and thanks for any support.

Alex, welcome to these user forums.

The problem you are describing is caused by changing the target USB external disk drive.  Each drive has a unique identifier that is recorded in the Acronis Database for the backup task, so when you connect a different drive the UUID of that drive no longer matches the value stored for the task in the database.

If you want to use a different disk drive for each day, then you should also create a new backup task for each day to be used with that unique drive. i.e. Monday task using Monday drive; Tuesday task using Tuesday drive etc.

Alternatively, if you do not have seven drives, then you could have a Mon-Thurs-Sat task with your Mon/Thurs/Sat drive etc.  The key here is to connect the same drive for the task each time that it executes.
