GPT to MBR

Thread needs solution

On an Asus laptop I have GPT HDD of 1TB with Windows 10 64bit that I want to clone on a SSD MBR of 240 GB. I will use an Acronis True Image 2016 USB stick to clone. If I clone the disk from the laptop and afterwards I put the SSD cloned in the laptop will it boot on Windows 10 without further interventions? If not what shall I do after the cloning? Thank you.

Unfortunately no.

There is no way of going from GPT to MBR that I'm aware of.  Acronis does support going from MBR to GPT though.

Also, cloning will always convert the drive to exactly how the original was.  You'd have to do a full disk backup and restore the image to change the partition scheme and that is essentially done by how the recovery media is booted (if you boot the recovery media in legacy mode, it will try to parition the disk as legacy/MBR during the recovery - if you boot the recovery media in UEFI mode, it will try to set the layout to UEFI/GPT).  That is how you're able to go from MBR to UEFI, but does not seem to work in reverse.

Convert bios to UEFI
