HomeGroup causes Backup failure

Thread needs solution

Good day.
Win 7-64 Pro on all 3 computers
3 computers on a wired LAN
ASUS RT-AC66U modem
"BACKUP" is the name of the 3rd computer which is used only for backing up files from the other 2. Back ups from both computer work correctly until I join them via Home Group.

When I join my computers using HomeGroup I get the following message:

"The backup has failed. Please close the application that may currently use the file \\BACKUP\COMP103 BACKUP FOLDER\TEST\Test_full_b1_s1_v1.tib"

No other application is using the TIB file.

Any ideas? Cal

Windows 7 home group is a simple way to file share between computers over ethernet. That sharing means that each computer is in fact using anything that is shared whenever a home group device is online. So the error message you are seeing is telling you that. If True Image sees that a backup file is in use by another application or machine it will fail and this is what yo are seeing.

Solution, do not use home group.
