How to browse to backup destination for Acronis True Image 2016?

Thread needs solution

How to browse to backup destination for acronis true image 2016?  When I click on Browse for Backup Destination none of the drives on My Computer appears under This PC nor anyother options that are shown (Desktop, My FTP conections, or My NAS connections).  Thank you.

Did you expand the + sign under desktop? Any disks that Windows can see should show up here automatically too.  Only exception might be if you had the window open first and then attach an external hard drive.  In that case, close Acronis out and start it after the external drive is attached and already recognized in Windows.

FTP and NAS may not show up by default - only works with some devices. Instead, if you plan to use a network location, you can type in the UNC path at the top in the white window next to "Back up to" as something like

\\192.168.1.100\mynasshare    <enter>

Of course, youse your nas IP and actual share name and when you press enter it should prompt for credentials

credentials are usually the NAS device name and username like

wd-mycloud\username

and then enter the password.

Yes, I did all that I could think of to display my drives.  I am a techie, however, I cannot get this operation to work the way I know that it suspose to, on either TI 2016 or TI 2017.  The only way that it works (sort of) is when I type in the partiucalar drive letter in 'Back up to:'    I never see all my drivesletters to chose where I would like to backup to.  Thanks for your help.

Interesting, could you post some screenshots?

Do you have any eSATA drives attached?  I only ask because I had an eSATA WD drive and when it started going out, it would prevent the system from booting up at times.  It would also prevent disk management from showing the other disk information until it was disconnected.  Never had that issue with a USB external drive though.

You could try a repair install of 2016 by running the installer again and making sure to right click and run as administrator.

Otherwise, if you're up for it, maybe run the cleanup tool with the recommendations in this thread?  the downside would be you'd have to setup new tasks again as it's like installing the very first time when you're done.  Existing backups would still be useable (especially with offlline bootable recovery media).  Maybe there's an issue from an Acronis upgrade or possibly even a Windows upgrade while Acronis was installed?  You can ignore the registry checks in the comments - it's in the clean tool instructions to verify, but I never have and it works as expected.
