How can I check that source and back up discs are aligned - drive location moved/incorrect

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I can see theTIB files in windows explorer, but no through the Acronis 2016 user interface. If I click on the individual files I can't validate or mount. When I try to open files I get a message saying the files are corrupted.

This seems to have occurred after updating from Win 7 to Win 10.

Thanks

Christopher, welcome to these public User Forums.

Sorry but more information is needed here.

What are the file names for your .tib files here?  In particular, the parts of the names that has underscore characters in it?

Example:

A_full_b1_s1_v1.tib  would be the first file of a new backup task A

A_inc_b1_s2_v1.tib  would be the first incremental file for the same backup task A

A_diff_b1_s2_v1.tib  would be the first differential file for that task if using that scheme.

For files to be valid to use for recovery there needs to be a full set of incremental files plus the initial full backup file all sharing the same _b?_ number.

For differential backups, then a full plus one differential file with the same _b?_ number.

If you have any orphaned files, i.e. _inc_ or _diff_ files without a matching _full_ file of the same _b?_ sequence, then they are essentially junk files!  They can only be matched with their original full backup file, not with any other file.
