How can I set the backup FILENAME.tib ?

Thread needs solution

I want to choose the base name for the backup file.

So instead of Samsung SSD 850 EVo 500 GB...

Bob-C-

It's not a huge deal. The alternative is that I just put each .tib file in it's own folder and make the Folder Name unique (Bob-C, etc.)

Hi Clay,

Once the name is created, Acronis won't let ou modify it anymore.  YOu can clone your backup task and create a new one and then rename it, and start using it instead fo the original though.

Offline and outside of Acronis (using Windows Explorer), you can rename the backup .tib file to whatever you want as long as you name all parts of it the exact same too (for instance if you have a full version and 10 incrementals, you need to rename them all to the new name and make sure the S1_V1_B1 part at the end is left alone).  I would not recommend doing this for any actively used backups that are in the Acronis GUI though as it keeps a database of the backup filles that were created and expects them to be the same name they were created as.  That's why I would recommend cloning your existing backup task settings to a new job, renaming the job and then starting with fresh backups using the new name scheme.

Might seem like no big deal, but it's still a loss of functionality.  The interface has changed so much, with so much detail hidden, that it's almost unusable.  Whenever possible, I use the rescue disk, at least to start the base folder backup.  It's okay to add functionality, and maybe change the interface along the way, but at least you should keep the "classic interface" available.  If you have to learn a new interface, it's the same as learning a new product.  Then you may as well go back and re-evaluate your product choice.  It's expecially important for a backup product, since part of learning the interface is learning what actually happens under the covers -- means checking that the backup actually contains what you expect.  It's hard to have the level of confidence you want in a backup program.

Robert, welcome to these user forums.

I can only suggest that you submit feedback directly to Acronis using the Feedback tool provided in the GUI Help section with your concerns about the loss of functionality and usability.  It is unlikely that the Acronis designers / developers would find your comments here in these user forums.
