how do you get ATI 2016 to ignore external back up media

Thread needs solution

I performed an "ENTIRE PC" backup to the ACRONIS cloud.  Now I want to keep a local backup as well that will perform a back up once a day instead of the once every two weeks i have set up online.  I plan on adding an external hard drive to accomplish this back up task for me.  It occured to me that once I add this external drive, ATI 2016 will see this as a new drive and will try and back  up this drive to the cloud.  How do I keep ATI 2016 from adding this drive to my "ENTIRE PC" back up in the cloud?

Thanks

Dean, your new external drive should be seen by Windows and Acronis as being a removable drive and therefore would not be included in an Entire PC backup.

The way to be absolutely sure of this is to not use Entire PC, but instead to use Disks & Partitions, ensure you are looking at the Full Partition list, and select your source drives (and all contained partitions), which would then never include any further drives that may be added to your system.

Thanks for the reply Steve!

That is the problem right there.  I have already compelted an "entire pc" backup (and rather slowly too..   it took me the better part of a week to upload all that data at my slow Comcast upload speeds)  I plug the drive in and see what happens.  Is there a way to convert my "entire pc" backup to a Disks and partions backup instead?  Id rather not have to re-upload the cloud backup again!

Dean, although it is not normall recommended to edit an existing backup task, there should be no problem if you edit your 'Entire PC' Cloud backup task to point at only your fixed internal disk drive(s) and partitions, which should be the same source as was included in the original entire PC backup.  There should be no need to re-upload the cloud backup again as you will not be adding any additional source data.

To edit the Cloud backup task, simply move your mouse over the Source data box, this will then change to offer you the option to Change source.  Click on this option and you will be shown the current Backup Source selection. Look at the bottom left of this panel and click on Full partition list to ensure that you are seeing all partitions, including hidden partitions.  Select either the box(es) for your entire disk drive contents, or the individual boxes for all of the partitions to be included in the backup source data.  Finally click on the OK button.

Steve,  I can only click on the Source data box if I first click on  + Add backup first, then I can follow your instructions.   I cant click on my 'Entire PC' source data box (original cloud backup) as it seems to be locked and nothing happens when I click on it.  I can click on the options button below the source area. Both the Source and Target area appear to be locked.  any suggestions?

Interestingly, I can use the App to go to the online dashboard and then click backup in the left hand column then select 'Entire PC', I can delete drives from the backup there.

Thanks again!
