Including the date in the backup file name in ATI 2016

Thread needs solution

With the previous version of ATI I was using (TI Home 2014) I could include the date of the BU and create a custom name of my BU such as S4_Full_SSD_840EVO_Win8_1_2015-08-20_2332_full_b73_s1_v1 and keep several versions. As I attempt to setup 2016 I don't see any options to create a custom filename or keep versions of backup. What the heck am I doing wrong?

For me there have been several times I've had to utilize a different version, e.g. not the latest version to either restore to an earlier time or to find an earlier version of a specific file.

The name feature has changed in 2016.  You can specify a friendly name when you first create the backup task by entering the desired name in the Task name field once you choose the Add Backup button.  The defualt name is Entire PC for backups unless you switch to Disk/Partition or File?folders mode.  Again, that can be changed as the first step in creating the backup task.

Versioning can be set in the Scheduling screen.

A workaround is here.

OK this worked, I created @task@_@DATE@_@TIME@.tib which gives me S4-Win10_2016-01-03_2340_full_b2_s1_v1tib where I'm performing a full BU.

I've specified a schedule to BU weekly, Now how in the heck do I specify I want to keep only X versions?

OK it seems that I did something wrong. As a test I ran a second BU and the 1st BU is gone.

  • This was the first BU S4-Win10_2016-01-03_2340_full_b2_s1_v1.tib. it was deleted when the 2nd BU completed and I now have
  • S4-Win10_2016-01-03_2354_full_b3_s1_v1.tib, note that the time did change.

I'm using build 6027 on a clean install of Win10 x64
