Incremental Backup settings doesn't work

Thread needs solution

I'm using incremental backup with setting "Create a full version after every 30 incremental versions".

Unfortunately Acronis doesn't create a full version. Meanwhile Acronis created a total number of 63 incremental backups in one chain without any full version (except the first one in chain).

What is the problem?

Several possibilites exist but the quickest and best solution would be to start over with a new task wih all new settings.

Use a different task name and a different storage folder or use a sub-folder. I suggest you use a custom backup task such as my example GH11, except change my example from 6 to 20 incrementals--if that is the number you prefer. Set a store numbe3 1 chain but if you have the storage room, set the store number to 2 (42 backups) or 3 (63 backups) as experience has shown that the backup you usually need the most is the oldest backup rather than the newest backup.

GH12. Create Custom Incremental Backup Scheme w/auto cleanup.
...Keep Full plus 6 Inc per chain. Store/Keep 4 chains. Use whatever number best fits your needs.
Some possible causes of your task failure is

A. Failed task was created with a version prior to 2016 (task not created by 2016)

B. User changed settings so task is no longer same as original.

C. System may have been restored and task not original.

With a new task and new settings, if the store number is set to "1", with 20 incremetals, chain length is 21 files and the auto delection should occur after the next Full backup which would be expected as backup #22.

I have the opposite problem.

I've set it to create a full version after 6 incremental versions, but it just creates full versions every time.

Brian,

Show us a screen capture of your backup scheme. It should look identical to my example GH12 except your store number can be more or less than the 4.

Backup scheme name must absolutely read "custom"--not one of your choosing.

GH12. Create Custom Incremental Backup Scheme w/auto cleanup.
...Keep Full plus 6 Inc per chain. Store/Keep 4 chains. Use whatever number best fits your needs.

Also, show us a capture of your main menu showiing your tasks.

Is your task scheduled or non-scheduled?

My task is scheduled for 6 PM daily.

I only have one task. I've completed deleted my other tasks and recreated them because they weren't working.

The only thing I do when creating the task is:

Set the name.

Set the schedule - daily @ 6 PM.

Set it to incremental and change the number to 6. This does cause it to change to "custom" at the top.

Set the exclusions to include 2 extra folders (I've actually given up on this for the current test).

Set the password with AES-256 encryption. I've tried no encryption to see if it would have any effect on my backup performance. It didn't seem to.

Set the compression to High. I tried maximum and normal to see if it would have any effect on my backup performance. Neither seems to (I have a 4.5 GHz Intel i7 CPU).

I can't show you a screenshot of the options because it's currently backing up, and it will take all day for about 100 GB.

True Image 2012 would take a few hours for a full backup and a few minutes for an incremental backup to the same network drive. True Image 2016 seems to be taking 4 times as long or longer.

This is a fresh install from the latest build as of a few days ago.

Brian,

For best results, my suggestion was and is to add automatic cleanup as per GH12.It seems to work better when there is a specific store number even if that store number is "store no more than 1 chain". You can try using the edit settings to add the one setting to the backup scheme and hopefully the change willl take as it is a minor change. After the edit/change, then the next time should be an incrmemental--if the edit works.
