Is it safe to go in the water yet?
Just checking in, as I always do, to determine if the current itteration of ATI is viable, or if it is thought that this version ever will be? One specific question, which may seem minor, but speaks volumes about Acronis's willingness to address customer concerns is:
For the local version, does the Cloud log-in dialog still present itself in the local version?
Further, how buggy is 2016? Are bugs being fixed? I don't just mean the show stoppers. Acronis has a history of allowing bugs to continue build after build, version after version (i.e., the chaotic scheduling debacle that never seems to get addressed).
If the answers are, respectively, yes, no, no, I'll go back to my cave. After all these years, I'm tempted to switch over to the competition, which always seems very well done indeed, but their upgrades can be a bit pricey. I can, however, wait indefinitely, as 2014 works (once one accepts the irritatingly always present bugs), and the competition's free version works quite well (I could probably get by just using that, actually).
I know that 2014 isn't widely compatible with Win 10, but since I refuse to allow win 10 near any of my machines, not a problem.
Again, just doing my annual viability check. Thanks for any comments.

Just purchased a Win 10 laptop
I have been considering purchasing Acronis True Image 2016 for home use, purely for creating a complete image on perhaps a weekly basis as I have been doing with my earlier versions of Acronis, BUT I have yet to see a good report on its ability. If you just look at the comments on the Amazon UK website, you would never buy it.
How does Acronis answer those very adverse comments and how can I be sure that I am not added to that list of disgruntled customers?

Wunay, sorry but this is a user forum not the voice of Acronis to respond to comments made on Amazon or other web sites with reviews of their products.
I can only speak for myself as a long term user of Acronis True Image products which have served me well, including the current 2016 version.
If you do decide to purchase ATIH 2016 then you have 30 days from the date of purchase during which time you can get direct support from Acronis and if you deem it does not meet your expectations, can ask for a refund.
I do not work for Acronis, not get paid by them for helping as a volunteer in these forums.

May I then ask - In Acronis True Image 2016 using Win 10 , can you still validate backups upon creation and dictate as to the drives that they are written to?

Yes, you can still validate backups on creation - this is one of the Advanced options available when you create a backup task. See screen shot.
Not sure what you mean by "dictate as to the drives that they are written to" - you have always been able to choose where your backup images are written to and this has not changed. I write my backups to a variety of different places, including local, network and NAS drives.

I come across something annoying practically every day.
At the moment, I keep getting Windows 10 "slide out" messages telling me that Acronis has failed. No clues as to what the failure might be. Is it my non-stop backup, or another session that has fallen over?
Of course, the slide out is little help in allowing you to bring up Acronis so that you can investigate what has gone wrong. You have to start it yourself to do that. When you do wake it up, there are various icons, but no clues as to what they mean. What is the exclamation mark all about? (There's nothing on " exclamation" in the Help file.)
Then there is the failure to delete old backups when I ask it to. Click on them, tell it to delete, nothing happens.
All in all, this is one of the worst bits of software that I use in my daily work. I can't think of anything else that is this flaky and uninformative. Sadly, I have all those backups that I need to maintain.
And the insistence that there is only one (expensive) cloud service that you can use with Acronis is a joke. Grown up software would let me choose my own cloud. Past experience with Acronis does not fill me with confidence in its cloud offering.
If I were you, unless you are locked into the Acronis treadmill, I would look elsewhere.

Thanks to Steve and Michael for your comments. Apologies for the late response, but of course, the forum software here is buggy. No notification even though set. I expected both types of comments and was not disappointed. My disappointment with Acronis is that they move on to a new version, never having addressed the long residing bugs in the old. In fact, often the old bugs are carried over. I would think that Win10, being Win 10, would amplify issues, as Michael has suggested. Guess I'll duck back down and wait. Thanks again for the comments.
