Media Builder or Universal Restore

Thread needs solution

Is there any reason you would not want to just use Universal Restore? I am looking to create a usb drive to boot from and wondering why you would use the Rescue Media if the Universal Restore does the same, but also supports different hardware.

I am fairly new to the software so I may be missing something, hoping someone can clarify.

Thank you!

Hi Chris,

Acronis Universal Restore is actually a separate utility which allows you to inject drivers after restoring the image on a dissimilar hardware. You can actually create it without the Rescue Media, but of course it is more convenient to create both on the same disk. But if you only have one computer, you would want to create the Rescue Media to simplify the process. Plus, you can download the .iso image of the rescue media from your account, unlike the Universal Restore which in cased of a disaster is very useful.

But I agree with you, that it’s more convenient to have one drive with both. Me, personally I have a flash drive with both the Rescue Media and Acronis Universal Restore which I always have with me.
