Message: Unpacking Installer Files

Thread needs solution

System:
Lenovo W520
CPU: i7-2720QM
RAM: 16GB
System type: 64-bit
C: in 500GB Samsung SSD (193GB free)
Windows 10 Pro x 64bit

Problem:
I was running Acronis True Image 2015 in Windows 7 on this computer. I removed the software, upgraded to Windows 10. I just upgraded to True Image 2016 and cloud, and tried to load. It seems to download the software, then I get a quick message, "Unpacking installer files." This resulted in an Acronis icon that says "Acronis True Image 2016." This icon remains, but 10 minutes later I get a box that says ...did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion."

I spent about an hour on CHAT with an Acronis tech, he FTPed a link, and I downloaded the file acronistrueimage2016_5634.exe. This file does the same thing, and I get the same message after about 10 minutes.

I am at a loss. Where do I go from here?

You might have issue with anti-virus app not allowing the installer to run. Try disabling such programs during installation and re-enable once installation completes.

Thanks Enchantech. I found the problem, and it was my system. Somehow, Windows 10 deleted my administrator privileges, so nothing would run. I reacquired them, and Acronis loaded just fine. Problem solved.
