Moving existing bacups to new External HDD

Thread needs solution

I am having trouble maintaining a connection between one of my External HDDs and my Laptop - it is due to a poor USB3 connector on the External drive.

If I purchase a new USB External HDD can I move my backups from the failing one to a new one using Explorer or must I use Acronis TI to move them?

I am using a LaCie USB Drive and my Laptop has Windows 10 Home 64-bit OS.

Eric, you can move your backups to the new external HDD using Explorer but there are some extra steps that you should perform after doing so.

First, remove the settings for the backup task(s) that created those moved backups.  This will remove the references to the backups on the original problem drive from the Acronis Database files.

Next, with the new drive connected, use the option to Add existing backup and select the latest backup file for your backup task and add this in to the GUI, then reconfigure this task to set the configuration you want to use and this will register the backup files and drive in the Acronis Database for the added task.

Thanks for the information.
