NEED ASSISTANCE MOVING A LICENSE

Thread needs solution

Hello all,

I have a 3 license product.

So far I have used 2 licenses.

The 2nd license was used on a now replaced laptop and I need to transfer that license to the new laptop.

Everything I have found so far gives me info on how to transfer "if I have exceeded" the number of licenses, but I cannot find information on how to transfer the license if there is still an available license on the product.

Anyone have information on how to accomplish this?

Regards!

Just use the license as availabe for your next setup and don't worry about trying to move one at this time.  If/when you get to a point where you install on a new computer and it says you've exceeded your license count, it will automatically take you to the login and the proper place to remove a license from an existing system (I don't know where this occurs specifically as it occurs from within the app and I can't recall an specific link in the account that it takes you to where you can do this in advance).  These used licenses will display as computer name, so you can just pick the one you want to remove from and then you can proceed with the license of the new system at that time.

Hello Bobbo_3C0X1,

Thanks for the speedy reply, although your answer is quite obvious and the fact that I posted the question should have given you a clue that your answers was not what I was looking for.

I realize that I can wait until the 11th hour to handle the situation, but being to proactive person I am I choose not to wait until the fuse has reached the dynamite to engage the problem.

This issue is fresh and I need a viable solution while the coals are hot.

All that being said, I pose the question again:

Then you'll need to contact technical support.  They're the only ones who can help with licensing issues. There is no way to revoke a license once in use other than when you run out and need to transfer.  You still have one.  Use it when you need to.  If you need to license yet another computer, you will get prompted by the app to do so then.  That's the way it works unless you contact technical support.

Hi,

I understand you want to move an existing license that's no longer used. I want something like that too, or at least a way to de-activate an existing license that's not used. I'm about to get rid of 2 old computers and eventually replace them with new ones. Even though you can specify it after you've run out of licenses, that process sucks. I know now what machines I want to deregister, so I would love to have a feature that allows this. Microsoft allows it for Office 365 installations via dashboard controls on the managment account. The only thing I get with Acronis is a list of what licenses I have active by clicking on the Web Dashboard buitton next to my subscription, but I can't deregister them.

I've had bad experiences with other software not transferring when I needed (e.g. Copernic, which I stopped using because of this).

On average I only keep my PCs one or two years before replacement.

I would suggest sending in app feedback directly to Acronis - it's the only way it's going to get registered.

Has the current process prevented you from activating a license on a computer?  It has not for me.

I'm using all of my licenses.  When I decommission a system and need to activate on a new computer (usually a new VM), when it tells me I"ve used up all of my licenses and says I need to deactivate one, that's what I'd do.  At that exact time, I then pick a computer to deactivate and activate the new one, achieving the same outcome with no real issue.

Hi paulrob.

YES!!! You get it! We should be able to IMMEDIATELLY decommision a license instead of going through the antiquated process of attempting to activate a 4th license and then being told we need to decommision one first! WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO DECOMISSION AT ANY TIME!!!

Bobbo_3C0X1 the current process [which I do not agree with] does not prevent using the product in an way. We would just like to have total control of the licenseS we paid for and to not have them floating around in machines that are no longer functional UNTIL we decide to transfer the dormant license to another system.

I will however try contacting Acroniis directly via the PC app...FYI I contacted Acrronis about this issue via twitter and received the same response you gave me on Sat, 2016-07-23 15:03.

Regrds!

GPSIS. another approach you can consider would be to send a PM to one of the Acronis Support Analysts such as Slava who active in the forums earlier today, so that he can take this to the development team for consideration.
