Network backups: Acronis Linux Media is slow, WinPE media is fast
Hey all,
I've been using Acronis since version 9 to boot blank machines up with a bootable CD and then pulling my system images over the network from an external drive attached to my laptop. I've got a new type of PC I'm cloning (A Lenovo Thinkcenter desktop PC) and using the Acronis Media, the image transfer operates at around 2-5 MB/s.
On the same machine, using the WinPE bootable media, the image transfers along at around 40-50 MB/s; significantly quicker.
The Acronis Media would take around 2 hours to complete, and the WinPE media takes around 8 minutes.
The Acronis Media works on other machines/network cards without issue, with similar image files (each one is tailored to the specific machine I'm imaging) so it leads me to believe it's something up with the network on the ThinkCenter machines.
The Acronis Media shows it being Autoconfigured to 1000 (Gigabit).
Anyone come across this? I'm working around it by using the WinPE disk, but the Linux-based one is a little easier to use with regards to connecting over the network.

Hello Mark,
Two days before you posted your question, on April 18th, there was an update for Acronis True Image 2016 released. Have you installed it and re-created Linux-based bootable media?
As Enchantech said, the issue seems to be related to drivers for your network card. Acronis Linux environment may lack drivers for your particular NIC and fall back on generic drivers that do not provide gigabit connection possibilities.
It also could be an issue with automatic configuration/settings of Acronis Linux on your computer. You can try adding acpi=off and noapic Linux kernel parameters when booting Linux: hit 'e' after starting Acronis True Image from text-based menu (UEFI boot mode), and F11 before starting it if you see graphical menu (BIOS/Legacy boot mode), then press Enter and continue booting Acronis True Image.
Regards,
Slava
