New annoying notification message.

Thread needs solution
In the past few days I have been getting an Acronis icon in the notification/systray area of my Windows 10 Pro v.1709 PC. I am running ATI 2016 Build 6595.

When I point at the Acronis icon I get the following message:
The Cloud is in recovery-only-mode. All data will be deleted in 5 days. Click to update subscription.

When I click on the icon, nothing happens and I cannot get rid of the message. Very annoying!!

Please note also, that I do not have a Cloud subscription with Acronis.

Please advise? TIA.

Hello avant-guvnor,

As far as I can see from your account details, you have an Acronis True Image Subscription for 5 computers + 1 TB Cloud Storage, where the Cloud storage was valid till 2017-12-28. After it had expired, you started to get automatic notifications informing about subsequent data removal. This is a precautionary measure aimed at preventing the loss of data that is stored in Acronis Cloud. I've asked my colleagues to disable notifications for your account.

Thank you,

Thank you for the response.

Just to clarify, I have no data stored in Acronis cloud and I have never used Acronis cloud.

Also, the notification may have been disabled, but it still exists in my systray and I cannot get rid of it.

Please see KB 60121: Acronis True Image 2018 licensing with regard to your Acronis True Image Subscription for 5 computers + 1 TB Cloud Storage licence and how this works after your subscription has ended.

This document states:

After your Acronis True Image subscription expires, all product functionality will be blocked until further subscription renewal, however, the backed up data is still accessible:

  • For 5 days after subscription expires you can continue making backups to cloud storage.
  • During 30 days after subscription expires you can restore data from Cloud Storage. Thirty days after subscription expiration the data in cloud storage is destroyed.
  • Local backups remain available for restore.

I am not making myself clear. I may have had an Acronis True Image 2017 Subscription for 5 computers + 1 TB Cloud Storage, but this is not being used and it expired in December 2017.

My 4 PCs are running Acronis True Image 2016 Build 6595, perpetual licences, yet I get this notification:
The Cloud is in recovery-only-mode. All data will be deleted in 5 days. Click to update subscription.

It is bonkers and I cannot get rid of this annoyance.

If you previously had ATIH 2017 (subscription licence) installed on these 4 PC's, then unless you did a full clean uninstall / reinstall to go back to using your ATIH 2016 perpetual licence, this may be why you are still seeing these warning messages.

Maybe, but I did not. I have PCs that have never had ATIH 2017 installed, with the notification.

OK, then these notifications come from your Acronis Account which is tied in to your abandoned 2017 subscription, which hopefully should stop now that Ekaterina has requested for such notices to be stopped for the account.

Once you get beyond the 30 days after the end of the subscription then they should stop anyway (if I remember what happened for me a while back when I had a 30-day free trial of the Acronis Cloud).
