New to ATI 2016 - What the heck is this signing nag and how to get rid of it?

Thread needs solution

I have been a long time ATI user. I'm currently running 2014 without issues on my Computer.

I just installed 2016 on my Mother`s computer.  Please someone tell me how to get rid of Synch and any Cloud related features and or advertizing and/or other nags to log in on things we are not interested in.

The current interface setup keeps asking for signing in. We don`t want an account NOR use it.

Just plain local backups... Old school.

Thanks.

I found other threads on the same subject... It looks like I'm not the only one to be upset about it.

Yeah... You are not the only one, don't worry.

You can just close the pop up login window.

Note that 2016 has a nifty feature: the online dashboard This allows you to remotely trigger backups on various computers. I started using it recently with success. This requires to be logged in though. Might be a good way for you to remotely backup your mother's computer....

Yeah right, I figured that one out already. How long does it take to cause brain damages? Please forgive me, the frustration is very high and it has nothing to do with your kind suggestions.

I made a decent career in Information Security Management. I have been focusing on the Cloud the past few years.

Acronis has a very very long history of poor Quality Control. Forget about Cloud storage, there is no freakin way I will hand over the keys to my PC to a Unknow/Untrusted/Unsecure remote management console.

Fun fact, my poor mother who was running ATI 2011 hadn’t got a successful backup in years. Do you want to know why?

The genius at Acronis had the great idea to make new version check part of the scheduled backup process. Then one day, they just took that server offline without providing any working option to disable that version check. End result big red backup failure Popup all the times. I`m not kidding… Backup Failed. Not something remotely relevant to the failed attempt to connect to the version check server.

At first we were worry, we did few integrity checks on the backup files and they were fine. We knew we could ignore that specific error. This story is almost fun. The forum is loaded with horror stories.

To Acronis credit, this is sort of past for me and I no longer have weird multi boot setups on my Machine and no more nightmares to restore after a crash. Plus, I`m doing most of my risky experiences in Virtual Machines that I can restore with a single click.

ATI 2014 Works great for my basic need. If it works fine on Win10 when I`m ready to make the move, you can bet I will stick with it. If not and Acronis is still forcing an immature-incomplete and worst of all unsecure Cloud based junk. Then I’m out the door to the competition.

Dear Acronis - Be sure of one thing. If all your new Cloud features were not slapped in our faces and if you were still providing a decent product that works best when managed locally. Then the choice of my words would have been much more politacally correct.

Oh, here's another good note about Acronis. Our views are not erased and ignored when we post them here. When enough people complain about something, they sometimes do something about it. That I respect... A lot.
