new computer

Thread needs solution

I have a new PC and when I tried to install Acronis, I got asked about daily/hourly backups, which I don't want.

When I switch my PC on, I get notified that there are too many Acronis activations. I only want to back up once a week.

Where do I go from here?

Many thanks,

Eileen

Hello Eileen, welcome to the forum, it sounds as if you have a couple of different issues here.

First, you will need to resolve the issue with activations - I assume that you have purchased on a single license for Acronis True Image Home 2016, therefore if you are getting notified about too many activations, have you installed this software on more than one computer?  When you get the message about activations, there should be several options offered to you, i.e. to purchase an additional license, to transfer your license from a different computer etc.

You will need to resolve this activation issue before you can rely on using the software as you will be in a 30 day trial period if the software is not activated, and after the 30 days are up, you will only be able to use it to recover an image that you have already created, not to make any new backup images.

In terms of creating backup images, there are a lot of scheduling options available for your backup tasks, ranging from daily backups to weekly or monthly or non-scheduled / manually managed.

I would recommend taking a good look through the ATIH 2016 User Guide which will give you a good grounding in how to use the software and getting started with your backup tasks.

Dear Steve

Many thanks. Actually, when I tried to backup, it looks as if it's working. But does that mean I may be on a trial? I haven't moved anything from the defunct PC

When I tried to check if any updates were available, my serial number wasn't accepted, although I copied it over, and didn't write it.

A bit lost.

Thank you for your assistance.

Eileen

Eileen, if you open your Account page in the ATIH 2016 application (icon that looks like a person - head & shoulders), this will show you the activation status for your software - see screen shot attached from one of my systems.

Thanks so much. I opened the page, and it says I am activated for three computers. I thought I was only activated for one. (I only need one.)

But when I clicked on Show serial number, nothing happened. Can I check my serial number any other way?

Many thanks,

Eileen

Eileen, the best way to check your serial number(s) is to sign in to your online Acronis Account with your registered email address and password, this will show you what products you have registered plus you can download a text file containing your serial numbers, as well as downloading the installation software or bootable rescue media (ISO image) to burn to a CD.

I did that and it seems everything is ok. The serial number it gives is the same as the one that wasn't accepted, but I'll look into that again when I have some peace. At the moment it looks as if I can backup successfully.

A great help. Thank you again.

Eileen

You are very welcome Eileen.
