New File Recovery Problem

Thread needs solution

I've been using TIH to carry files from one computer to another for many years.  When I recover to the different computer, I deselect the "security settings" option.  However, with the latest set of files, I cannot recover them "normally" but I can by booting from the Rescue Media.  However, when using the Rescue Media, there does not seem to be an option for deselecting the "security settings". Is there any workaround?  Thanks.

Found a solution.  Problem was that, possibly due to a naming similarity, the TIH database was "confused".  The backup, even though having been done 25 May, was showing a last backup date of last December.  To "recover", I got rid of the database at c:\programdata\Acronis\TrueImageHome by renaming the folder from Database to Database_OLD.  Then, when I "added" the existing backup, things were re-created appropriately and I was able to "restore" the files and deselect the file security setting option.

Possible downside is that the backup process for this computer shows that no backup has ever been done.  I suppose it would just start a new backup chain, but I'm going to recreate anyway in case numbering gets messed up.

Ron, glad you found a solution for your problem.  If you have just renamed the Database folder to .OLD suffix, you could try reversing the process after removing the added task in the GUI but would recommend stopping all Acronis Services and Processes first to avoid locked files.

Best to rename old .tib files before adding them as existing if the names will clash with any of your current backup tasks in the ATI GUI.
