NEW SSD Hard Drive from Crucial
I bought a solid state hard drive from crucial to replace the hard drive in my laptop. The harddrive came with Acronis True Image HD software. I was able to back up the old hard drive, restore it to the new hard drive, the laptop boots up and brings me to the windows log in screen, once i get past the login screen it sits spinning at the welcome point, the harddrive activity light goes solid and the laptop is locked up. It does the same in safe mode, although once the taskbar partially appeared before it locked up. When i put the old hard drive back in the laptop works fine. Any ideas?

You may want to check the new hard drive for bad sectors as well. It's not too common for them to be bad from the factory, but it does happen, especially in this day and age when it's so easy to return products that just get repackaged.
Also, what type of Crucial did you get. The older MX100's seemed to be pretty reliable. The newer BX series has gotten pretty rotten reviews for stability and reliability. The price is good, but the drives themselves seem to be very hit or miss. Depending on how much you paid and the return policy, I would recommend trying to get a Samsung 850 EVO instead of the crucial. If that's not price comparable, perhaps a Sandisk Ultra II or better instead. Not all SSD's are created equal (I'll never get a Kingston again - too many let downs for me, even with their different product lines. Crucial has been a mixed bag for me too - the older MX 100's were great, I can't say the same for the BX though).
