No File Recovery Tab in Acronis 2016
While this new version is a real failure, they have dumed this version down till it has nothing left. There is no Revovery Tab that I can see to revovery files that were backed up, like in previous versions. I have lost faith in this company. I filed a complaint via email and recieved a response that was useless and have not heard back since. Still trying to get a refund.

I agree with OP.
I am going to try uninstall 2016 and go back to my last version which was True Image Home 2010. I hope I can get it reinstalled and not fail because some remnants from 2016 are still hanging around.
As for recovery:
It appears you select your backups to recover by date rather than by file name, as the date of the file is what appears in the dropdown.
Hard to believe - but what if I made two or three backups all on the same date which is logical - backup Windows 7, then install Window 10, then back up again. It would seem I would want to select by file name rather than my date. I can't seem to find comments either even though I made comments for each file.
Maybe I am missing something. I don't even dare attempt to test the backup, because if it fails then I will have nothing.
Looks as if I will have to create an image using Windows first, then test the True Image backup, and if it fails, then restore the Windows Image.
The original True Image (I've had most of them) and up to version 10 are far better then the 2016 piece of crap. What a waste of money and time to install.

If you are going to remove ATI 2016 and go back to 2010, then ensure that you deactivate the System Recovery Manager (F11 prompt on boot) before you uninstall 2016 - you should also look out for the hidden bootwiz and acroldr folders in the root of one of your partitions and clean these too to be succesful in removing 2016.
In terms of backup names in 2015 or 2016, then these are the same as the backup title on the main program backup page and you can change this to whatever you want so that you can easily identify which is which from the directory listing where you store the backup images. The only exception to this is if you use the Acronis Secure Zone where you have no control over the naming conventions used and it is very difficult to work out which is what, especially if booting from rescue media (I had this same issue recently on a machine with images in the ASZ for Vista, Win 8.1 and Win 10 where I had no idea which was which!).

I tried to use File Recovery the other day, and it spun for 15 minutes before I gave up and killed it. There was a lot of confusion in what it listed as available to recover and what should have been there. The older versions would mount a backup quickly and let me pull files as necessary. I also hate the dumbed-down user interface and the loss of usable logs.
I'm another long-time TI user, since TI6, and I've had to give up on 2016. I'm spending far too long trying to make things work, testing different scenarios, installing new versions, and just don't have the time to wrestle with it any more, in addition to the fact that it's hard to trust that it's going to work when I need it to.
It's a sad day for me. I've always liked TI, have relied on it for many years, and am still running the older versions on a number of PCs. This 2015/2016 update has been a complete disaster for me. I've uninstalled for now, but I'll keep checking the forum to see if it recovers.

I have to say that I don't tend to use the Recover Files option very much as I find that I can do this much easier if I just open Windows Explorer and navigate to where my TIB image is stored, then right-click on the TIB file and take the option to mount the image as a free drive letter.
Once mounted (via Acronis True Image) - I can just explore through the various folders and files and copy what I want to where-ever I want to put them.

I agree and feel the same way. I have used Acronis True Image all the way back to version 6.0 as I recall. The new 2016 interface is unintuitive IMO and I didn't even get to the point of trying to clone a SSD disk for my new Lenovo T450s.
I think I will just start using Window backup for now until I can find something that I can trust that will work. I did use Symantec Ghost for awhile comparing it to Acronis True Image but Symantec stopped with Ghost. I think will try Pargon imaging and backup - it is getting good reviews.
I am going to use 'Samsung Migrate' to clone the eSata 500 gig hard drive in T450s to the Samsung 500 gig SSD hard drive. I am done with Acronis even though I wasted $49.95 for the 2016 upgrade. IMO it is TI 2016 is hopeless.
