I start True Image 2016 to do a clone. Choose source and destination, wait a bit, and rebood. The Acronis Loader starts up, throws and error message on the DOS screen (to fast to read it) and then auto reboots.. This is an up to date Win7 machine, Internet conncetion is fine. Fully paid full version. Error message from log is:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
<log uuid="" product="True Image" version="19.0" build="6027" >
    <event id="1" level="3" module="400" code="2" time="1460922127" message="No Internet connection." line_tag="0x54350D6C76523752" >
        <error>AQIAkAFSN1J2bA01VE5vIEludGVybmV0IGNvbm5lY3Rpb24uACRtb2R1bGUATgAAAAAAAAAAAA==</error>
    </event>
    <event id="2" level="3" module="10" code="1003" time="1460922487" message="Computer restart is required
Note that the operation will be canceled if you choose not to restart your computer now.
" />

Previous version worked like a charm, until it didn't and that's why we upgraded to 2016 which didn't help.

Advice?

Duncan,

Please see the following for guidance on how cloning should be performed.

KB document: https://kb.acronis.com/content/56634 this includes a video demonstration of cloning.

When using the bootable rescue media, there should be no requirement for an internet connection.

Also, I would recommend signing in to your Acronis Account and downloading the latest version of the bootable rescue media (for build 6559) as this has enhanced support for more modern hard drives & SSD's than your current build 6027 version will have.

Duncan, message about internet connection in the log should be ignored in this particular case. Disk cloning has nothing to do with internet connection.

Many messages in .xml files in the Logs folder are not inteded for end-users as they contain "debug" information, useful only for Acronis developers. Some messages are irrelevant for the outcome of the performed operation, like in your case.

Acronis True Image 2016 in Windows must have been unable to register Acronis loader correctly. As you did not see progress bar window upon rebooting, the problem in your case must be Acronis Loader (first bootup stage). If standard bootable media, which uses Acronis loader as well, will not boot, please use WinPE-based media. WinPE-based media uses Microsoft loader and should start correctly.

Regards,

Slava
