No sound after Universal Restore

Thread needs solution

Hello all,

Last week I restored my computer with Universal Restore, and while everything else went well, my computer was without sound.

Upon logging into Windows, I would get a message saying "The SoundMAX driver did not load. You may need to reinstall SoundMAX." Trying to reinstall SoundMAX would never work, and the "Sound, video and game controllers" category isn't in Device Manager at all. I even made sure that audio is enabeld in the BIOS and that I was installing the correct version of the driver and everything, but nothing worked at all.

I'm not sure if the no sound problem is caused by Universal Restore or if the computer I was using was in some way broken.

Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance! :)

Welcome to these User Forums.

When you say that you " restored my computer with Universal Restore " - do you actually mean the same computer as where the backup you restore was created from, or do you mean you restored your backup to a different computer with different hardware, then used the Universal Restore tool to prepare the restored OS to work on that different hardware?

If you are restoring to the same computer with no change of hardware, then Universal Restore is not needed and should not be used.  You should be using the standard Acronis Rescue media for any restore.
