Nonstop backup failed

Thread needs solution

Hi, I tried setting up nonstop backup, but it would not work. Now the problem is that this backup cannot be deleted either (after clicking on delete nothing happens), when trying to rename it I get error 0x00640238+0x01030005+0x01030001 "Failed to get parameters of Acronis Backup session".

Any help would be very appreciated.

Thank you
Gabriel

Hello,

Similar issue has been reported once and was fixed in Acronis True Image 2015.

I'd recommend you to contact our Support team for collecting and analyzing logs. (http://www.acronis.com/support/)

Best regards.

I'm running True Image 2016 and have the exact same problem, with the exact same error. Non stop backup is useless and now I can't even delete it.

Please advise.

Kathy, please see KB document: 32417: Acronis True Image: Troubleshooting Nonstop Backup which may offer you some options you can try.

Thanks for that document, but it does not address my specific problem.

I can't even set this back up to a non stop backup anymore. It gives me an error when I select non-stop backup, probably because I changed it to 'do not schedule' at some point. It says someting about a scheduled backup cannot be converted to nonstop or something like that.

I just want this to go away from my screen and to disappear from my list of backups. All the files and folders on the external drive are gone and I just can't get it to delete the back up from the list. It asks me to confirm that I want to delete the backup, I say yes and it does nothing. Then when I tried to rename it, I get the error message (exactly) that the OP stated.

My full system backup, partition backup and files and folders backup (all scheduled backups) work fine. I was experimenting with the nonstop backup and when I tried to do the initial backup, it sat forever in the 'calculating time remaining...' and I tried to stop it and that is where my trouble started. I have been unable to do anything with it since. I just want it deleted.

I notice for ATI 2011, you can download a utility to clean up the DB, but I looked at it and could see that it is just not going to work for ATI 2016 - the HKEY it looks for is not there, for example, and the file path it provides for the db is not there, so I wasn't going to run it. Searches for a similar utility for 2016 came up empty

Thanks for answering, though, I do appreciate it!

Kathy,

One way that you can clear the Acronis database and backup tasks is to rename the folders that hold this information, but in order to do so, you will need to stop the Acronis Services and Processes so that you will not encounter locked files.

Doing this rename will remove all of your current backup tasks and backup history information, but you can add the information back by using the option to Add existing backup into the Acronis GUI.

You could also open each backup script file in the C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Scripts folder with a text editor such as Notepad, and just remove the script file for the NSB task once you have identified it.  You would still need to rename the C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Database folder in order to remove all other references to the NSB task.

To stop the Acronis Services - type services.msc at the Windows run prompt to open the Services console, then right-click on each Acronis Service and select to Stop it.

To stop the Acronis Processes, use the Windows Task Manager (right-click on the bottom status bar then select the Task Manager), then select to End each Acronis program / process shown as active.

Once you have renamed the folder(s), then relaunch ATIH 2016 to restart the Acronis services and processes which will create new folder(s).

Steve,

Thank you so much for that information. I was able to follow it and get that orphan non stop backup deleted. Then I went in as you said and added in all my existing backups. Just for others who may get into this same situation, this is roughly what I did:

1. I brought up the services gui and disabled all the Acronis services. To do this, select the service, right click and set it to disable. Make a note of the previous setting. For me 3 of the services were set to Automatic and one was Automatic (with delay). Repeat for each of the 4 Acronis services. Restart the computer. This will insure that no Acronis processes are running for the next steps.

2. I brought up the cmd prompt and located the C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Scripts folder. I opened each of the files in that folder with notepad and found the one that referenced the backup I wanted to delete.

Still in the command prompt in that Scripts folder, I executed del filename_of_script_found

3. I went to the C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome and renamed the Database folder

rename Database Database-junk

You can do all of the above in windows explorer as well, whatever you are comfortable with.

4. Started Acronis True Image 2016 and low and behold, all my backups were listed except the one I wanted gone! I noticed that the backups were empty, however, so I added the files back one by one with the 'Add an existing backup' feature on the bottom of the panel that contains the backup list.

With my external hard drive connected, I did the following to add back the existing backups:

For each Backup in the list:

  • I highlighted it
  • Went to the bottom of the screen and selected 'Add existing backup'
  • Navigated to the individual backup files (*tib) that belonged to that backup. I had to do it for each file, I couldn't select multiple
  • Repeat until you are done with every backup file for that backup

Bring up the services gui again and restore the settings of each Acronis service to 'Automatic' or 'Automatic with delay', according to its previous setting.

I hope this is somewhat clear and thank you again, Steve, for this valuable information! I learned something today!
