NVMe M2 SSD not recognized by TI2016
Hi all,
according to the Acronis technical information, TrueImage 2016 supports NVMe SSDs from build 6565.
I have downloaded and installd build 6571 and created a bootable USB Stick with that build. Althoough the software is up to date, TI doesnt recognize the Samsung NVM 950 pro. (which boots and works perfectely)
What must be done to be able to backup the M2 NVMe SSD from the bootable USB Stick?

PC is Dell Precision Notebook M 7710. It has two M2 NVM SSD slots and one 2,5" SATA HDD slot.
Installed is one Samsung NVMe SSD 950 Pro in the first M2 Slot as a single drive, no RAID + one 1TB SATA HDD.
M2 NVMe SSD was an upgrade, "installed" with the Samsung Migration Tool by cloning the SATA HDD to th M2 NVMe SSD.
SATA HDD disconnected, booting from M2 SSD works fine; SATA HDD connected via USB 2 SATA adapter, cleared with DISKPART, repartioned and formated as "data" volume. Built in again:
Everything works fine: OS Win 10-64 is installed on M2 SSD, Samsung tool shows transferrate 2200 MB write and 900 MB read.
Data volume on SATA HDD is recognized and works.
Now it's time to get a recovery image to backup a 100% clean installation, but it fails:
TrueImage 2016 build 6571 USB boot stick will recognize only itself + the SATA SSD. No M2 SSD can be found anywhere.

If the standard, Linux based, rescue media USB stick does not recognise your M2 SSD, then I can only suggest making the Windows PE Rescue Media with the Windows 10 ADK and trying that.
I am assuming that you are booting the USB Rescue Media in the same way as your Windows 10 OS boots, i.e. if Windows boots using UEFI, that you do the same with the USB media.

Yes, boot mode is the same (UEFI), only boot device is different.
I'll give the Win PE rescue media a try.

Look in your SATA Storage Controller Mode settings and see how the machine is configured. Many Dells have the Mode set to RAID. That needs to be changed to AHCI so that the M.2 drive can be seen by the bootable Rescue Media.

DLO - even though you don't have them in RAID, what is the SATA mode in the bios set as? By default, the Dells seem to be comeing with SATA mode set as RAID-ON. Because of this, the storage controller is needed. If you create WinPE, this should work (although you may still need to inject the dell WinPE Driver Pack to get the necessary storage controllers in the WinPE with the Windows 10 ADK as suggested by Steve, but only if it doesn't detect it automatically with the default Windows 10 PE).
What version of Windows are you running? If you're running Win 10, alternatively, then you can just set the SATA mode in the bios to AHCI and problem shoud be solved for the default Linux media. Windows 10 is capable of booting the OS natively if you change the mode in the bios (assuming you don't have an actual RAID configured - if you do, you'd have to break the Raid first, if you really wanted to switch to AHCI). With a one drive, non-RAID setup though, AHCI is what you really want. Samsung SSD's (SATA and PCIE) state that they recommend AHCI as well.
If using Win 8.1 - Win 7, you would first need to run the Microsoft fix it tool in Windows. Then power off, set teh bios from RAID to AHCI and power on and all should be well too.

Thanks! That was it: SATA was set to "RAID = on". I set it th AHCI and now all drives are found by the Linux Booot Medium.
