Problem with Acronis Bootable Media not detecting 1 TB Samsung Evo 960

Thread needs solution

Hi there,

I'm trying to upgrade the hard drive in my Dell XPS 15 from the factory Samsung 256 GB M.2 drive to a Samsung 1 TB Evo 960 M.2.  I've created an image of the existing drive using True Image 2016 but when I boot from the Acronis Bootable Media the new hard drive is not being recognized.

Any ideas about this?

The default bootable media is Linux based and most likely does not have the proper drivers for the new drive. I would suggest making a WinPE version either using the built in Acronis PE builder or the MVP WinPE builder available at https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B8uZDIFmupY7bTczX25KMHl2RVU. The MVP builder is most likely to solve your problem

I was on online chat with Acronis support and they suggested changing settings in BIOS to AHCI.  After I did the Acronis Bootable Media was able to detect the drive and I was able to complete the restore step before switching the BIOS settings back to the original setting.

Problem solved.

Thanks.

Glad to here you were able to resolve the problem.
