Problem adding images to Backup List. Is this normal or not ?

This is best described by the sequence of screen shots attached. I find I am unable to add any backups to the list (and they do not appear automatically as different tasks are created and run). This means that they are not available for restoring. The only way I have found is to delete the active task and then I can add a single backup of my choice.

This doesn;t sound right. Please view the attached images in order to see.

More info (thats not good news !).

It seems that once adding backups to the list has been attempted is when (for me at least) I start to see the well reported issue of 'True Image is terminating current operations, the computer will be closed in about 2 minutes'. Up until this point I had not seen this during many open/close operations of Acronis.

I'm afraid my patience has worn thin because this (a good backup utility) is the single most important program I install. I'm currently doing yet another clean W10 install and using (for now) Windows own more clumsy disk imaging.
