Question about Virtual Maachines and Acronis

Thread needs solution

I have a full drive backup created with Acronis True image 2016 and was wondering if i could convert the backup into a virtual machine. If so what are the steps necessary? I know i was albe to do this in the past but for the life of me i can't figure out how to do it with 2016.

Thanks
Justin

TI 2016 doesn't offer the option to convert a backup to a virtual hard drive as past versions did. You can create a new virtual machine and boot it using TI recovery media. Then restore your backup to the virtual hard drive. I did it as a test and it worked. I got access to the backup by putting it on a USB drive connected to the VM. I did it with Windows 10 in Virtual Box. Windows 10 was able to adapt to Virtual Box hardware without the need to use Universal Restore to inject SATA drivers. I suspect earlier versions of Windows may not have fared so well.

I would highly recommend you use Paragon Drive Copy or Paragon Hard Disk Manager. Both programs include a P2V copy option that creates a complete virtual machine for you. I have used both programs with great success. It couldn't be simpler.
