Reading older Backups

Thread needs solution

My problem is: I have used True Image Home 2012 for several years. I have numerous backups.

On my 64-bit Windows 7 - which I am now running as a virtual machine on a macbook - True Image just hangs up when it starts. No response, ever.

So, I am trying a True Image 2016 trial. I would gladly pay for the software ... AFTER the trial succeeds and I find I can use it.

Right now, I want to restore some old files from an external drive that has numerous Acronis backups - .tib files. I have opened True Image 2016, but it isn't obvious to me how to point it at the backups on my external drive. There is a +  (a plus icon) at the bottom of the screen, which is the only thing I can see that might allow me to add existing backups. When I click it, Acronis stops responding, but does: NOTHING.

So far, I am hugely disappointed with this software. Maybe someone can give me a tip that would show me how to get it to work.

Hi Peter,

The fact that program just hangs when you try to perform any actions most likely indicates some kind of incompatibility, which should be investigated. Most usual causes are pther backup solutions, antivirus programs or any other applications with low-level drivers. In any case I'd recommend contact our support team: http://www.acronis.com/support/contact-us.html

And if you urgently need to recover files from your backup, you can always use bootable media.

Thank you,
