Reboot required after restoring from XP-based WinPE Boot Disk
Hi,
When restoring from a WinPE Boot Disk created with Acronis Media Builder, i can successfully restore images of my system drive including MBR and track 0.
However, i recently decided tried to include the plugin in "Gena", a Windows XP based WinPE, as it includes many additional tools compared to the spartanic WAIK-created WinPE by Acronis.
Everything seems to work fine, but if i select to restore MBR and track 0, True Image 2016 hangs for a while at the very end of the restoration process, only to pop up a "Reboot is required" screen.
Particularly confusing is the message "Note that the operation will be canceled if you choose not to reboot now".
Systems restored this way seem to be okay even if i select "Cancel" when i want to run some additional tools before rebooting.
But it's still irritating, because TI2016 does not hang when i deselect MBR and track 0 restoration, and it does not require a reboot in that case.
Just for fun, i integrated my old True Image 2011 in BartPE (long deprecated, but officially supported by Acronis at that time if i remember correctly), and sure enough, the same thing happens: MBR and track 0 restoration require a reboot.
Is this normal behaviour on XP-based WinPE Boot Disks? And is it safe to select "cancel" in that case?
Or should i just stop using XP-based bood disks and finally move on? ;)
