recover to an alternate location

Thread needs solution

I have my system backed up both as "files and folders" and "disks and partitions".

using either, if I try to recover just a folder or file, I cannot restore to a different location. there is only 2 choices in the file recovery options menu, for security and date and time.

I've migrated from 2014 since upgrading to Windows 10. in 2014 there was an option to recover file sand folders to another location.

is this not possible in 2016.

thanks

Vega,

By default, it will first select the original locatio, but you should have the option to select a new one.  See my screenshot.  If you don't have this option, I can't say why.  As an upgrade from 2014 though, you may want to try cleanly uninstalling and reinstalling using the clean tool, a reboot, and installing by right clicking the installer and making sure to "run as administrator" (even if logged in as admin already) to make sure it has the full admin privileges to install.  The feature is definitely there in 2016.

thanks Bobbo_3C0X1

you are correct, I was looking on the recovery options page for the location, the feature is at the top of the next dialogue.

silly me, thinking where to restore would be a recovery option ............. lol

by the way, what is up with the captcha needed for every post now? I have'nt been here in a while, but you cannot post without logging in, so why the captcha.

Glad you found it!

Not sure about the captcha. There was a lot of spam not too long ago... People creating accounts just to post viagra stuff and things like that. Guessing that was the start of it. Didn't realize it was still there though as I'm not prompted for it anymore.
