Recover Recovery Partition to Different Location

Thread needs solution

Acronis True Image 2016 (Build 6581)
Windows 10 Pro 64-bit

I have the following partition sequence with the Recovery partition at the end:
EFI System partition, Microsoft Reserved Partition, OS partition, Data partition, Recovery partition

I want move the Recovery partition before the OS partition as follows:
EFI System partition, Microsoft Reserved Partition, Recovery partition, OS partition, Data partition

Don't worry about why - it is a long story.

I make a backup of the entire disc.

I unallocate the entire disc using Minitool.

When I do a Recovery with the rescue disk, Acronis does not seem to have a way to specify the restore sequence of the partitions i.e. tell it to restore the Recovery partition before the OS partition.

Is there a way to make this happen?

Thanks in advance

Yes and no.  Yes you can restore individual paritions where you want.  However, Acronis True Image Home is not a paritioning software so does not let you create paritions wherever you want.  As a result, you must use another tool to create the paritiosn first.

Before you do anything, make sure you have a full disk backup as a safety net.

Then grab the free minitool parition wizard application (it's the one I always use) and install it iin Windows.  Run it and use it to manually create the new paritions on the drive (you can create them before or after the drive and resize paritiosn as well).  This may take some reboots to complete as the disk may need to be taken offline first.  Once the new, blank paritions are configured, then use your Acronis rescue media and do a parition restore of the recovery parition to the newly created partition.
